Come get excited about Spring by learning how to extend your cut flower season into April and May by planting cool flowers including Tulips, Anemone, and Ranunculus and growing them over the winter months! We’ll walk you through the tips and tricks to successfully grow these sought after cut flowers that grow well in cool temperatures. From soaking to pre-sprouting, to planting, mulching and protecting them from winter temperatures, we’ll cover it all.
The second half of the workshop will cover no-till flower bed preparation, cool weather direct seeding, milk jug seeding, and cool flower succession planning. We’ll talk about where to buy seeds for other cool flowers (sweet peas, larkspur, poppies, rudebeckia, and more), various methods of starting them, and how to get the healthiest transplants for your spring garden. This workshop will be packed with information from our over 15 years of growing flowers and you will definitely want to bring a notebook to jot down all your questions and notes! All attendees will receive a selection of Tulips, Ranunculus and Anemone corms to take home along with a care instruction sheet and a list of recommended resources. Dress warmly with layers!
